February is Children's Dental Health Month
Many people may not know that February is National Children’s Dental Month. A child’s teeth are just as important, if not more, than an adult’s. Because their teeth are brand new and just emerging, they are more prone to infection and harm. Dr. John Stentz and Dr. Priya Shaffer are willing and able to teach your child the right tips and tricks to make sure they have a healthy smile!
It is important to bring your child in to see the dentist when their first tooth emerges. When they come in for the appointment, the dentist will be able to teach them proper flossing and brushing techniques, stressing the importance of doing so to have a healthy smile. The dentist will also stress the important role you, the parent, have in making sure they stick to the habits. When you set your child up with healthy habits from an early age, they will be able to carry those habits with them through adulthood.
A common practice in children’s dentistry is fluoride treatments and dental sealants. The dental sealants are placed on the back teeth. Because the grooves of the teeth in the back of the mouth are so deep, it makes it a perfect place for bacteria to sit and manifest. Sealants make the grooves not so deep, protecting the teeth. Fluoride treatments promote healthy tooth growth, helping your child have a strong and beautiful smile!
We encourage you to celebrate National Children’s Dental Month with the Circle Pines Dental family! We will be sure to start your little one on the right foot with their dental health!

February is Children's Dental Health Month!
February is the National Children's Dental Health Month! Tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease, but in most cases it is very preventable. Because children follow the habits and routines they learn during childhood, it becomes very important to instill good dental habits at an early age! Bring your child in for a visit this month and we will gladly teach them how to take care of their teeth, and they receive a fun goody bag too!
2011 Thanksgiving Food Drive at Circle Pines Dental another success!

Our food drive was another huge success due to our friends in the community and their abundant donations! We collected 367 items (total weight of 295 pounds) for the Centennial Food Shelf ! Thank you for being so generous to those who really need our help!
Circle Pines Dental was once again honored to be asked by Blue Heron Elementary to visit their second grade classes! We love to teach the children the importance of dental hygiene. Our very own Renee and Juanita, Dental Assistants, reviewed healthy choices in foods as well as showed them what cavities do to our teeth, and the correct way to brush and floss. Each child was given a toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss. Circle Pines Dental has taken great pride in making even our smallest patients, feel comfortable and at ease when visiting the dentist. Each class was also given a book for their classroom on visiting the dentist. If you are interested in having us visit your child’s classroom, please call us today!

Circle Pines Dental celebrates American Heart Health month
Feb. 2009 - Circle Pines Dental celebrated American Heart Health month by promoting the importance of maintaining a healthy mouth and heart. We enjoyed celebrating with our patients by offering blood pressure readings and thanking our patients for being a loyal to us. You may have been one of our lucky patients that received a goody bag or a large red rose during the week of Valentine’s Day, to thank you for your business! Our staff was busy reminding patients of the link between oral health and how the effect of bacteria in the mouth can be directly linked to cardiac health. We care about you!
Circle Pines Dental was also happy to celebrate Children’s Dental Health month in February by visiting our local elementary schools to educate young children on the importance of dental hygiene. The children at the local elementary schools were very eager and excited to learn about brushing, flossing and 'sugar bugs'; which is what our office refers to when speaking to children about plaque on their teeth. They were thrilled to go home to tell their parents more about our office and about caring for their teeth with their new toothbrushes and floss and toothpaste! We visited over 200 children and donated fun, dental hygiene related books to their classrooms.
